An introduction to Blackjack rules, hand values, table formats and safer-play practices.
Blackjack is a card game in which players aim for a hand total closer to 21 than the dealer without exceeding 21. Aces count as 1 or 11, face cards count as 10, and number cards count at face value.
Table rules can vary. Check the number of decks, dealer stand or hit rules on soft 17, permitted doubling or splitting, and the payout for a natural blackjack.
A hit requests another card; stand retains your total; double increases the wager and usually takes one final card; split divides a pair into two hands where permitted.
No betting approach guarantees winning. Published return-to-player figures are theoretical averages rather than predictions for individual sessions. Set a budget and stop when it is reached.
